Urban gardening in Woolloomooloo is all about community connection, fresh produce, and turning shared spaces into green sanctuaries. From the established beds at the Bourke Street Community Garden and the sustainable food-growing focus of the Woolloomooloo Permaculture Community Garden to grass-roots initiatives like the Woollo Gardening Group, locals are working together to cultivate eco-friendly streets. Adding a vital layer of inclusion, the Ozanam Learning Centre (OLC) Gardening Group provides hands-on horticultural therapy and skill-building, giving residents of all backgrounds a welcoming space to plant, nurture, and grow together in the heart of our neighborhood.
Woollo’ Gardening Group
Partnering directly with experts from the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, the Woollo Gardening Group meets monthly to tackle local planting, urban greenthumb projects, and community garden care. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just looking to get your hands dirty and connect with neighbors, everyone is welcome.

OLC Gardening Group
This group runs a variety of urban gardening programs and greening projects, (almost like a pop-up garden project). It’s an inclusive program designed to help locals learn practical horticultural skills, cultivate fresh produce, make use of wasted going spaces, and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of greening Woolloomooloo, growing plants and connecting with nature..

Bourke Street Garden
Bourke Street Garden is a gated space in Bourke St park. Members get a dedicated plot to cultivate their own herbs, fruits, and vegetables, help care for the resident chickens, and swap growing tips with other green-thumbers. It’s a peaceful local sanctuary for homegrown produce.
